"Colors"
Cornflowers,
Irises and forget-me-nots
Varying shades of blue
The lonely sea and sky above are but just a few
Of the things that are blue
But blue is cold on a winter's day
And cool on a summer's eve.
In the summer
I think I prefer the green of the leaves
Red
can be a glowing fire
Or poppies in a field
Or an orchard with trees full of apples
When there has been a good yield.
Red is gay on a gray winters day,
And makes the streets bright.
I think I prefer white.
Brown reminds me of earth just ploughed
Hot chocolate made with milk.
Velvet curtains that close at night
lined with shimmering silk.
Squirrels in an old oak tree.
Acorns lying in leaf mold.
When I think of all the colors
I think I prefer…gold!
