One promise stands out above the rest:
I will always love you.
I look back on tear-stained sheets,
warm embraces,
mischievous glances, and friendly pokes.
Yes, it was worth it.
The best lovers always end up friends.
You know it goes deeper than common sympathy
when, with one long hug,
we know everything the other is feeling.
And you know that it's stronger than simple kindness
when you asked if I forgave you
and all I could do was smile
not remembering a time I hadn't.

When moments on a back porch
mean more than all the world's success
...that's love.
When one look can turn your day around
...that's love.
When words no longer matter
because a touch says it all
...that's love.

So maybe I do take you for granted.
But that's only because I
trust you so much
owe you so much
love you so much
that I know you'll never leave.
